Voltage Drop Calculator
Cable selection check according to IEC 60364 limits
Formula & Standards
Single phase: ΔU = 2 × ρ × L × I × cosφ / S
Three phase: ΔU = √3 × ρ × L × I × cosφ / S
Permitted drop (IEC 60364): Lighting 3%, motor/power circuits 5%
Motor Protection & Cable Selection
Thermal, contactor, cable based on motor power
Formula & Notes
Three-phase current: I = P / (√3 × U × cosφ × η)
Thermal setting: 1.05 × In (motor anma akımı)
Contactor: In AC-3 class, ≥ In
Cable: NYY/NYM copper, under 5% voltage drop
Compensation (kVAR) Calculator
Required reactive power to raise current cos φ to target value
Formula & Standards
Q = P × (tan φ₁ − tan φ₂)
EPDK Requirement: Inductive cos φ ≥ 0.95, capacitive ≤ 0.20 (to avoid penalties)
Recommended stages: Distribution of total kVAR in 5–6 stages
AC Drive Selection
Suitable drive current and recommended series based on motor power
Notes
HD (Heavy Duty): Pump, fan — continuous constant load
LD (Light Duty / Constant Torque): Conveyor, crane — high starting torque
Drive current must be ≥ 110% of motor rated current (120-150% per application)
Transformer Short Circuit Current
For panel breaking capacity selection
Formula & Notes (IEC 60909)
I"k = (S × 100) / (√3 × U × uk%)
Usage: Breaking capacity of switchgear (breaker, contactor) inside the panel must be greater than I"k
The result is approximately 50% above the peak current (Ip) — busbar peak withstand capacity is selected accordingly
Need a more complex calculation?
Transformer selection, coordination analysis, EMC studies, harmonic filter design — these don't fit on this page. We are just one phone call away.
